David McVean
CAREER OVERVIEW
With a 30-year career in the Department for Education with 10 years in the Senior Civil Service, David has carried on his passion for education with 6 years as a self-employed consultant. He now works with schools and colleges across the country to help them develop and implement strategies for growth, efficiency, and effectiveness. His focus is always on securing better outcomes for children and young people. Able to blend finance, operations as well as leadership of an organisation, David also gives back to the education community through his governance work. He is (currently) Chair of 1 Junior school, 2 secondary schools, a Specialist College of Further and Higher education, and Chair of the Board of Studies at the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health at the University of Buckingham.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Senior policy roles within DfE include Inspection, Funding, Admissions, and legislation. He was the Deputy Director responsible for over 3600 academies within the EFA. He is an SRMA and a lead SRMA assessor. He is currently completing his ILM Level 7 Coaching and Mentoring Qualification and an MSc in Systems thinking.
